适当使用含有较高级语法结构的句式。特殊句式(强调句、倒装句、省略句、感叹句等)、各类从句(定语从句、名词性从句等)、非谓语动词、独立主格结构等都属于较复杂的语法结构。这些结构的交替使用，可以使文章的语言充满层次感，从而较好地反映考生的语言运用能力。此外，正确使用一些谚语也能给文章增色不少。

1.使用特殊句式

①As a saying goes，the little thing matters most.

→As a saying goes，it is the little thing that matters most.(强调句)

②The children can grow up healthy mentally and physically only in this way.

→Only in this way can the children grow up healthy mentally and physically.(倒装句)

③If it is so，I hope you will have a wonderful time.

→If so，I hope you will have a wonderful time.(省略句)

④It is a very splendid moment.

→How splendid a moment it is!/What a splendid moment it is!(感叹句)

⑤I won first prize with my teacher's help.

→Without my teacher's help，I couldn't have won first prize.(虚拟语气)

2.巧用从句

①如果他们在考试中经常作弊，他们就会养成一个坏习惯，这将会对他们的生活产生坏的影响。

If they often cheat in the exams，they will develop a bad habit，and it will have a bad effect on their life.　→If they often cheat in the exams，they will develop a bad habit，which will have a bad effect on their life.(定语从句)

②这正是我想要的。

It is just the thing I want.　→It is just what I want.(名词性从句)

3.善用非谓语动词

众所周知，作文中出现过多的简单句会给人单调乏味之感，句子与句子之间的关系也会显得松散;而文章中过多地出现复合句又显得累赘，读起来费劲。恰当地运用非谓语动词可以使文章结构更紧凑，表达更流畅。

(1)运用非谓语动词转换简单句

写作时，我们可以利用非谓语动词将两个简单句转换成较高级的表达方式。转换时可采用三步法。

第一步：写出两个简单句。

第二步：让句②作主句，用非谓语动词改写句①。

第三步：句①表示原因，其中的动词feel与主语I之间为主谓关系，故用现在分词短语作原因状语，即Feeling quite sorry for that，I begin to think about what to do to help.

【举一反三】

①另一方面，我将帮着建立英语角，给我们学生提供一个练习英语口语的平台。

翻译：On the other hand，I will help set up an English corner. I will provide us students with a platform to practice our oral English.

可用现在分词作状语将其转换为→On the other hand，I will help set up an English corner，providing us students with a platform to practice our oral English.

②这里的人都喜欢汤姆写的那本小说。

翻译：All the people here like the novel. It is written by Tom.

可用过去分词作定语将其转换为→All the people here like the novel written by Tom.

(2)运用非谓语动词转换复合句

用非谓语动词转换复合句比转换简单句要容易一些，因为需转换的一般是从句部分，这时只需要判断用何种非谓语动词，再把握好时态和语态即可。

第一步：写出复合句。例如：

After we had practiced playing basketball for almost two months，we strongly desired to be the winner.

第二步：用非谓语动词作状语代替after引导的时间状语从句，practice与we之间为主谓关系，且表示完成，故用现在分词的完成式作状语，即Having practiced playing basketball for almost two months，we strongly desired to be the winner.

【举一反三】

①惊诧于他们的熟练程度，我决心要像他们一样好。

翻译：Because I was amazed at how skillful they were，I determined to be just as good.

用过去分词作状语将其转换为→Amazed at how skillful they were，I determined to be just as good.

②看到一辆车朝她飞驰而来，我伸出手把她拉了回来。

翻译：When I saw a car running towards her，I reached my hand out and pulled her back.

用现在分词作状语将其转换为→Seeing a car running towards her，I reached my hand out and pulled her back.

③这里曾有一家生产化肥的工厂。它每天释放出大量有毒气体，污染环境。

翻译：There was a factory here，which produced fertilizer. Every day it gave out a lot of poisonous gas，which polluted the environment.

将第二个定语从句转换为现在分词短语→There was a factory here，which produced fertilizer. Every day it gave out a lot of poisonous gas，polluting the environment.

④由于老师的帮助，我的英语进步很大。

翻译：Because my teacher helps me，my English has greatly improved.

用”with+宾语+现在分词”的复合结构将其转换为→With my teacher helping me，my English has greatly improved.

4.点睛之笔——谚语

谚语的准确使用也可为文章增色。例如：

As the old saying goes，”An inch of time is worth an inch of gold.” 俗话说，一寸光阴一寸金。

Every coin has its two sides. 任何事物都具有两面性。

Where there is a will, there is a way. 有志者事竟成。

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. 千里之行，始于足下。

It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness. 通往巅峰的路必定崎岖不平。
